Saint-Émilion stalwart Vignobles Bardet appoints EMW to be its Chinese distributor

Vignobles Bardet of Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, has extended its distribution partnership in mainland China.

The important extension of the winery’s business map follows an existing 6-year partnership with EMW in the cities of Hong Kong and Macau.

EMW is a leading importer, distributor and brand builder in the Greater China market, working closely with more than 90 premium wine estates, sake breweries and craft spirit producers from 16 countries. EMW has an unequalled distribution network, with access to top restaurants, hotels, wine shops and online VIP customers covering more than 160 cities in China. EMW has been awarded “Best Wine Importer” for 10 consecutive years since 2011 by China Sommeliers Wine Challenge and WINE100 Challenge.

The 300-year-old Vignobles Bardet family estate currently owns 50 hectares of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC and has been certified ‟Haute Valeur Environnementale” (High Environmental Value) Level 3 Certificate, which is awarded to winegrowers who observe strict regulations concerning biodiversity, phytosanitary strategy, water management and fertilisation, from wine cultivation to bottling.

Vignobles Bardet has a strict and high quality wine process from grape-growing, sorting and maceration to its oak aging; they believe in agroecology to grow vines and produce wines in an environmental-friendly way.

Vignobles Bardet’s history began on the banks of the Dordogne River in 1704. Mr. Seigneriau, a river boatman, started his business by transporting barrels of wine to the port of Saint-Brice de Vignonet, where the Seigneriau family acquired some vines.

In the 1920’s, Mr. Seigneriau’s granddaughter, Mathilde Roy, married Henri-Gabriel Bardet, who founded Château du Val d’Or, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. And in 2013 and after a 100-year succession, Paul-Arthur Bardet and Thibault Bardet acquired Château du Paradis. In May, 2021, Paul-Arthur Bardet was awarded “The World’s Best 50 Young Winemakers” by Food Drink Magazine.

Philippe Bardet is also the founding president of the first Association of the SME (Système de Management Environnemental du vin de Bordeaux, which means “Bordeaux Wine Environmental Management System”). This association is certified ISO 14001.
