DOC Delle Venezie unveils new logo

The DOC Delle Venezie has unveiled its new official seal and logo, which will be used to promote the region across its wines.

It is the latest step by the consortium  to boost the position, strength and branding of the Italian wine region, notably for its Pinot Grigios.

Last July the region gained protection from the European Commission and was officially registered on the database of geographical indications and protected names in the EU for food and drink.

The new logo was designed by the Grey agency to present a more graphic and youthful style, and includes for the first time clear references to the whole territory. It has retained the Gondola iron prow-head and the reference to the Italian flag which have been used since 2017, but has added geographical elements such as the lowland, the hills and the mountains that shape the North-Eastern corner of Italy, to represent wines from Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Autonomous Province of Trento. The 12 balls around the outside represent provinces throughout the DOC production area.

The organisation said the rebranding exercise, which started in March, had been to designed to increase the reputation of the brand that represents the largest area dedicated to Pinot Grigio worldwide.

“At the centre of the project there is first of all the desire to create a new and real image of the Denomination, a face that is able to group together all the intrinsic values of culture and land that distinguish the Tre Venezie and to convey them effectively on international markets,” it said.

The consortio’s chairman Albino Armani said the DOC had been lucky to have a world icon in the name and logo of Venice, but the board had recognised that this was not sufficient to represent all of the regions under its wing.

“We realised it had to be enriched and enhanced by what is the real territorial heritage of the whole Triveneto,” he said. “Our goal today is to convey to the world a message that is as true and coherent as possible, while maintaining that familiarity that we have earned on a global level since the beginning of our adventure”.
