New data reveals the best cities for beer in the United States

The best cities for beer in the United States have been revealed thanks to new research that determined its findings based on a number of relevant brewery-based metrics.

Clever Real Estate compiled its data based on the following: the number of breweries in each city, the density of breweries per 100 square miles, the total number of beers per brewery, and the amount of beer styles per brewery.

San Francisco took top spot, with the study noting, “With an average of six breweries per 100 square miles, the San Francisco metro area has double the density of breweries of the #2 metro area on our list.”

  4. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

  7. Denver, Colorado
  8. Tampa, Florida

As for the ten worst beer cities, per the research, they are as follows:

  1. Salt Lake City, Utah
  2. Riverside, California
  3. New Orleans, Louisiana
  4. Memphis, Tennessee
  5. Birmingham, Alabama
  6. Las Vegas, Nevada
  7. Orlando, Florida
  8. Miami, Florida
  9. Virginia Beach, Virginia
  10. San Antonio, Texas

“Altogether, these 10 metro areas offer a total of 195 breweries — which is fewer than the top two cities on our list combined,” the study notes.
