Booths rolls out new in-store wine bar

Upmarket British food and drink retailer Booths is rolling out a new wine bar in one of its stores in the north of England this week, as the UK emerges out of lockdown.

The new Galley Wine Bar and cafe in Booths Lytham, in Lancashire, which opens on 20 May, will serve a selection of light dishes, along with afternoon aperitifs and a full selection of its own brand wines by the glass. Around 170 wines can be sampled from the range, for a small corkage fee, with wine buyer Victoria Anderson curating a changing list of wines that can be enjoyed by the glass.

Retail development manager, Matt Bruno said the northern retailer was renowned for its award-winning wine selection  as well as its cheese counter, delicatessen and bakery counters.

“It made perfect sense to simply combine top-notch ingredients in a comfortable airy space and open our Lancashire version of a continental café,” Bruno said. “We hope it will very much be a “heart of the community café,” appealing to all generations as a place to gather with friends and family and have a catch up over with a great glass of wine and a simple, but perfectly prepared lunch.”

It will also serve a selection of  tea and coffee, which will be a key focus, made-to-order sandwiches from Cumbrian craft bakery Bells of Lazonby, locally made cakes and sharing platter of award-winning cheeses, cured meats and antipasti.
