Patrón launches 2021 Perfectionists Cocktail Competition

Ultra-premium Tequila brand Patrón has launched its 2021 Perfectionists Cocktail Competition, which kicks off with a virtual format ahead of the global final in Mexico.

The competition will open for entries on 23 April with a new online format to enable bartenders to enter from the safety of their homes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Patrón Perfectionists will challenge mixologists to submit a cocktail recipe online that reflects their journey to find perfection behind the bar.

Entries need to use up to eight ingredients from a list of widely available supplies in order to encourage consumers to have a go at recreating the recipes at home.

Matthew Sykes, senior director, global marketing, at Patrón Tequila, said: “With the rise of mixology at home, consumers are now more prepared than ever to engage with our cocktail competition and support the amazing bartenders who’ll take part.

“We are looking forward to rolling out this year’s edition and providing the public with inspiration to craft beautiful cocktails that elevate their moments.”

During this year’s contest, Patrón, which is owned by Bacardi, will also call on consumers to vote on a shortlist of 30 cocktail entries, which will be published online via drinks website Difford’s Guide. The top 10 will then go through to the national finals.

Consumers will be asked to vote for their favourite cocktail entries in the national heats, which will be virtually broadcast around the world and judged by a panel of experts.

The winner of each national competition will be invited to Mexico in January 2022 to compete in the global final at Hacienda Patrón.
