California estate launches wine range in ‘unbreakable’ aluminium bottles

Sonoma County winery Limerick Lane Cellars has launched a sustainable wine brand housed in “unbreakable, infinitely recyclable” aluminium bottles.

The Revelshine range is housed in “unbreakable” lightweight aluminium bottles

Called Revelshine, the range is comprised of a red blend made from Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah; a Chardonnay/Grenache Blanc white and a GSM rosé with a touch of Grenache Blanc, all of which are designed to be enjoyed on the go.

The lightweight packaging was created by New York-based branding agency Motto. The simple, pared-back design and its sun, mountain and river motif aims to highlight the brand’s ethos of enjoying the wines in the great outdoors.

The surfboard, guitar, campfire and backpack icons on the back of the bottle emphasise the al fresco message.

“While my work life has always led me through wine, my passion and love is the outdoors. Rivers, mountains, beaches, music festivals – this is where I find my inspiration.

“I realised, along with my other friends who are surfers, skiers, kayakers, mountain bikers and musicians, that you just don’t have good wine where we enjoy these activities,” said the brand’s founder, Jake Bilbro.

“If you do, it’s because you had to go to extraordinary lengths to bring it, such as duct taping your bottles or pouring your good wine into inflatable bladders from previous boxed wine. No matter the bottle, the glass doesn’t work on the beach or the river. And that is how Revelshine was created.

“Still meant to be poured and enjoyed, the aluminum bottles are meant to be packed in and packed out, so we can preserve the outdoors for the next generation,” he added.

Revelshine has partnered with 1% for the Planet and is working towards adding more sustainable products to the range.

“Now more than ever the need to be outdoors is imperative for our sanity. Jake saw a problem and we are providing a socially responsible solution while having a bit of fun at the same time,” said Revelshine’s marketing director, Gina Lathrum.
