McDonald’s is finally bringing back Hi-C Orange after nearly four years off the menu

Almost four years after Hi-C Orange Lavaburst was removed from its menu, McDonald’s has announced that the iconic drink is making a highly anticipated return.

The fast food chain revealed on Wednesday that Hi-C Orange is returning to restaurants. Selected locations will be offering the drink this month, before it is rolled out in participating McDonald’s restaurants across the United States by June, according to USA Today.

The drink was first introduced to McDonald’s restaurants way back in 1955, and developed a cult following over the years due to how well it paired with the tastes of Big Macs and fries.

The chain said that it had been inundated with requests to bring back the fan-favourite beverage ever since it was removed from menus back in 2017, though customers will soon be able to enjoy Hi-C Orange once again.

Indeed, for the particularly keen, from Monday you’ll be able to drop your zip code into the tracking website mcdfinder.com to find the closest McDonald’s location that has Hi-C on the menu.

“The loyal fandom of this deliciously fun and fruity beverage that teases your taste buds dates back to 1955, when it first debuted on McDonald’s menus,” McDonald’s said in a release cited by USA Today.

Such was the clamour for Hi-C’s return that fans had even made petitions calling for it to be reinstated over the years since it was removed.

Hi-C Orange Lavaburst isn’t the only fruity flavor making a comeback to McDonald’s locations. It has also been announced that the carbonated drink Fanta Orange will return, making the chain’s “legendary orange drink roster once again complete,” McDonald’s said.

Hi-C is part of the Coca Cola Company and is sold in juice boxes at stores across the United States.
