Jackie Weaver, Handforth Parish Council star, is recreated as a cake

Jackie Weaver, the unlikely viral sensation who rose to prominence thanks to an emotionally-charged and often chaotic Parish Council Zoom meeting, has been immortalised in cake form by a talented baker with an eye for a news story.

Jackie Weaver’s name has entered into common parlance in recent days after footage of a tumultuous Handforth Parish Council meeting went viral online.

Now, baker Ben Cullen, who hails from Chester and has been featured on Netflix and Channel Four, has recreated Ms Weaver as a cake in honour of the story and her role in it.

Cullen said he “couldn’t resist” making the cake, which he reveals has had “a great reaction”, according to the BBC.

Cullen, who is also known as The Bake King, formed his creation from angel cake and chocolate ganache, with sugarpaste detailing to help bring Ms Weaver’s likeness to life.

“I’ve had such a great response,” he said.

“The subject itself is so popular and funny currently and so people that have seen it and follow me and my work have loved my take on it.

“My followers know I can’t help myself with topics like this or really unique characters. I just have to get involved.”

Like the millions of others who have enjoyed living and dying each moment of the tempestuous council meeting, Cullen said that he found the footage “hilarious”.

“At the moment whilst we’re in lockdown, memes and viral videos are so popular as I guess they lift people’s spirits,” he continued.

“The council meeting was so funny and so fitting with life at the moment with the Zoom element.”

Zoom gaffes have become seemingly daily occurrences during the coronavirus pandemic. Indeed, even since the Jackie Weaver debacle unfolded, a lawyer inadvertently got stuck with a cat filter over his face during a recent virtual courtroom session in Texas.

Jackie Weaver, who hails from Shropshire, has appeared on BBC Breakfast and Channel Four’s The Last Leg since the infamous Zoom meeting went viral.
