Moët & Chandon installs new vintage wall at Harrods

Champagne house Moët & Chandon has installed a wall featuring its ‘Grand Vintage Collection’ at UK department store Harrods.

The new display will hold 16 white and rosé cuvées across 12 vintages spanning 1959 to 2012 and including new additions to the collection in the shape of the 1962 and 1995 vintage wines.

Arranged to echo the way bottles are stored in the house’s cellars in Epernay, it includes an “interactive element” in English and Mandarin to provide more information about each vintage to customers.

The redesign was described as arising out of a desire to, “better communicate the story of the House and its Vintage wines to the Harrods customer, who is often on the hunt for rarities and special gifts.”

The Grand Vintage Collection is an additional element to Moët’s vintage releases, undergoing a minimum of 15 years lees ageing when the first round of vintage wines are normally released after five to seven years.

New vintage releases are often accompanied by additional ex-cellar releases from the Collection, with the house still holding wines that date back to the 1870s.
