LVMH creates collectible fine wine case to raise €0.5m for restaurant trade

LVMH Vins d’Exception – which represents the group’s most prestigious wine estates – is to sell-off a set of collectible labels, from Château d’Yquem to Château Cheval Blanc, to raise more than €500,000 for the shuttered restaurant trade in France, the UK and the US.

300 numbered six-bottle cases will be produced

Officially announced this morning, the fundraising initiative sees the fine wine arm of the luxury brand business attempt to generate this substantial sum for three charities set up to support the hospitality sector during the coronavirus lockdown.

To do this, a collectable, limited-edition of 300 numbered six-bottle cases will be produced, marked with the message ‘Together with the hospitality industry’.

Each mixed case will contain a single bottle of:

  • Y d’Yquem 2017
  • Château d’Yquem 2015
  • Château d’Yquem 2009
  • Château Cheval Blanc 2009
  • Château Cheval Blanc 2015
  • Clos des Lambrays 2016

The target is to raise as much money as possible, as soon as possible, for three charities in France, the UK and the US, which are:

UK – Hospitality Action

USA – Restaurant Employee Relief Fund

France – La Fondation de France

For fine wine collectors, the limited-release mixed cases offer a unique opportunity to acquire a bottle of the most acclaimed vintages from each property over the last decade.

Each case will be priced at €2,300 (£2,000 / US$ 2,500) (retail price excl. local taxes) and will be available globally from leading fine wine merchants, with all the proceeds donated to the above charities.
