Bordeaux Internship Programme for HK students now open

Altaya Wines, one of the leading fine wine merchants in Hong Kong, is recruiting Hong Kong students for the second edition of its Bordeaux Internship Programme 2020.

Hong Kong is an important international wine market, yet local young people lack the exposure to hands-on vineyard management.

In 2019 Altaya initiated an internship programme with the support of the Hong Kong Government Commerce and Economic Development Bureau to sponsor Hong Kong students with an opportunity to receive wine education and training in prominent wineries in Bordeaux.

The programme encourages students from all fields to apply but students from Food & Beverage, Hospitality or Tourism Academic Programmes will be given priority.

The internship programme will last for four weeks, from September to October 2020. It will cover a one to two-week course at Bordeaux CCI training centre and a two to three-week internship at famous Bordeaux châteaux during the harvest.

Last year, students had the opportunity to work at classed growth wineries, namely Château Angelus, Château Haut-Bailly, Château Latour and Château Montrose.

This year, the programme group size has expanded from 10 to up to 20 students, with the aim of granting more local students the chance to learn more about winemaking via a hands-on practicum in Bordeaux.

The application is opened from now until 30 April 2020. Visit their website for more information.
