Louis Vuitton to open first restaurant next month

Fashion house Louis Vuitton, part of the LVMH group, is to open its first restaurant in Japan next month, with a menu devised by chef Yosuke Suga.

As reported by WWD, the restaurant, called Le Café V, will be located on the top floor of Vuitton’s new four-storey Osaka outpost.

Featuring an adjoining bar and a terrace, it is expected to open on 15 February.

Michael Burke, chairman and chief executive officer of Vuitton, hinted to the publication that eateries, and even hotels, could be in the pipeline.

It follows news that American jeweller Tiffany & Co, which LVMH acquired for US$16.2 billion last year, is making Breakfast at Tiffany’s a reality, having announced the opening of its Blue Box Café in London department store Harrods next month.

Back in March last year, LVMH announced plans to open a new luxury hotel, restaurant and spa in London. If granted planning permission, construction of the site in Mayfair could begin this year, with the opening scheduled for 2022.

In December 2018, LVMH announced its acquisition of luxury hotel group Belmond and the Orient Express service for US$3 billion.

Belmond operates 46 properties around the world, including hotels in Rio de Janeiro and Venice, as well as a luxury cruise liner.

In the UK it operates Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire and the Cadogan Hotel in London’s Chelsea.
