The Grill at The Dorchester appoints youngest ever chef

Tom Booton, 26, has been appointed head chef of The Grill at The Dorchester, making him the youngest person to hold the position in the restaurant’s 88-year history.

Beginning his career at the age of 15, the 2019 Acorn award winner joins the restaurant after holding the same position at Alyn Williams at The Westbury in Mayfair.

The chef will spend time curating the The Grill’s dining room menus before they are unveiled in early October.

Described as a “new chapter of the Grill at the Dorchester,” Booton will be joined by sous chef Adam Nevin alongside fellow Acorn award winner and general manager Kieran McLoughlin, who previously worked at Hide in Mayfair.

Regional director UK and general manager of The Dorchester, Robert Whitfield, said: “Tom Booton’s talent and energy provide a formidable match in re-affirming the Grill at the Dorchester’s position as a leading London dining classic.

“This year marks a new culinary chapter for the Dorchester, with the recent appointment of Stefan Trepp, our first executive chef in 20 years, and this autumn’s re-launch of the Grill under Tom’s watch.”

Last month, the hotel appointed Stefan Trepp as executive chef, replacing Henry Brosi, who retired at the beginning of the year following 20 years in the position.

Booton’s new menu will be available from early October.
