Freixenet teams up with fried chicken joint
Freixenet has partnered with London fried chicken connoisseurs Mother Clucker, to create a limited edition crispy Cava-battered chicken.
The limited edition chicken, which is brined, soaked in buttermilk and battered twice before being fried is available for a month through Deliveroo Editions: Whitechapel, until the end of May with a complimentary 20cl bottle of Freixenet Cordon Negro available with every purchase, whilst stocks last.
According to US-based wine site Wine Folly, sparkling wines and Cava pair perfectly with fried chicken. The dry, lean, and with zesty aromatics of Cava cutting through the oil, salt, and fat content of fried chicken, it said
Export sales of Cava rose 3.5% between 2016 and 2017.
German sparkling wine company Henkell. & Co bought 50.7% of Freixenet’s capital for just under €220 million last year, following negotiations between the two parties. Last month, the combined group, which is now known as Henkell Freixenet, reported strong revenue growth in western Europe, seeing overall sales grow by 56.5% to €823.7 million after tax.
