The Scottish brewer had put a call out on their Facebook page for entries into the competition.

Innis & Gunn delivered the branded vending machine filled with 150 cans of Innis & Gunn Lager to Edinburgh’s Mickey Higgins.

Mickey was one of nearly 500 entrants for the prize.

The company was won over by Mickey’s post, in which he spoke about his winter BBQs. He closed his post: “What better way [to] share the love, than to give them an Innis & Gunn”.

Mickey’s winning Facebook post

In an interview with The Scotsman, Mickey said: “Every year since I turned 18 I’ve written to Santa asking for a vending machine full of beer for Christmas. I’m 47 now and I was starting to think it was never going to happen.

“I’m a huge fan of Innis & Gunn, particularly their lager, and I’ve not been able to stop smiling since I found out I was the winner of this fantastic prize. Thanks to everyone at Innis & Gunn, you’re definitely all welcome at my next Barbeque.”

Robb Hamlin, senior brand manager at Innis & Gunn, said that there were many entries that would have been worthy winners but Mickey’s entry stood out to the company because “who doesn’t like a BBQ with family, friends, laughter and award winning Innis & Gunn Lager?”

“We would like to apologise to any of Mickey’s friends and family who now find themselves with a hard act to follow on the Christmas present front.”
