Bourgogne Week comes to a close

Today marks the final day of this year’s ‘Bourgogne Week’ with wine blogger Matt Walls releasing his top picks to taste for day three of the annual event.

It is the fourth year that Bourgogne Wine Board’s (BIVB) annual event, which runs until today (Friday 11 January), has graced the capital, with tastings highlighting the producers and pioneers of one of France’s most notorious winemaking powerhouses.

The tastings give writers, importers, wine buyers and consumers the chance to try the Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from the latest vintage and uncover wines from lesser-known appellations.

Among Walls’ picks from Thorman Hunt’s tasting on day three was Domaine Eric Forest’s Mâcon-Vergisson ‘Sur la Roche’ 2017 which he commended for its freshness and “bright, tangy, lime-tinged fruit, sappy acidity and amazing vibrancy”.

He also singled out Domaine François Lumpp, Givry, Premier Cru, Crausot 2017 which he says has “divine purity”.

Walls also made it along to Liberty Wines’ tasting at which he picked Domaine Perraud’s Bourgogne Aligoté 2017 and Domaine Robert-Denogent Mâcon-Villages Les Sardines as his favourites.
