Exton Park creates bespoke rosé for Simon Rogan

Hampshire-based English sparkling wine estate Exton Park has created a bespoke rosé label for chef Simon Rogan to be served at his two Michelin star restaurant, L’Enclume in Cumbria.

Called ‘Exton Park with Simon Rogan’, the pale pink non-vintage sparkling rosé is made from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier grown on chalky soils in the South Downs.

“The wine displays its delicate pink colour like roses in a garden when the new buds are blossoming.

“After an enticing nose of strawberry liquorice, the wine reveals rich fruit in the mouth, including white peach and the rich plum flavours of the Pinot Noir,” said Exton Park’s head winemaker Corinne Seely, who believes it’s both an ideal apéritif and also pairs well with shellfish and charcuterie like Bresaola.

Rogan is a longtime fan of Exton Park and lists some of the estate’s sparklers at L’Enclume, including half bottles in the minibars in the restaurant’s hotel rooms.

“Exton Park is such a beautiful sparkling wine that our guests love.

“The chance to solidify our relationship with the creation of a bespoke label is so exciting, and we couldn’t wish to work with a wine producer that better echoes our approach to celebrating British provenance and ethical production methods. Being a Hampshire lad myself makes this all the more special,” Rogan said.

Corinne Seely added: “We are thrilled to be developing our close relationship with one of the most talented chefs in the country, and it’s really exciting to see this kind of top-level support for English wines.

“Our two industries are at an exciting stage where English wine and English cuisine can hold each other up as beacons of quality.”

Rogan & Co in Cartmel and Roganic in Marylebone, which opened a permanent site on Blanford Street after a successful pop-up on the same street in 2011, were awarded their first Michelin star this year.

Exton Park with Simon Rogan rosé will be available by the bottle and glass at L’Enclume from next Monday.
