Six of Argentina’s most stunning wine hotels
As Argentina’s exploration of its terroir and altitude has grown, so too has its wine tourism offer, with producers keen to prove their country’s appeal extends beyond meat and Malbec.
Forget high-story hotels with boring breakfasts and bland interiors. These hotels, set within sprawling vineyards in the shadow of the Andes, offer high-end luxury away from the city, be it a slick and modern spa resort, or a rustic retreat.
They also offer the perfect springboard to exploring some of Argentina’s most famed wine regions, from the Uco Valley in Mendoza to Cafayate in the north.

Cavas Wine Lodge – Mendoza
Set within a 55 acre vineyard, Cavas Wine Lodge was among the very first luxury wine resorts in Argentina, and is still one of the best. A romantic hideaway, the 18 room boutique property is located half an hour drive south of Mendoza. All views face west, giving views towards the Andes and spectacular opportunities for stargazing, while an on-site spa offers a menu of treatments based on the use of vine and grape seed extracts.
Rosell Boher Lodge – Mendoza
One of the newer hotels in the Mendoza region, Rosell Boher Lodge is based in Agrelo, near to Mendoza and its many vineyards. It comprises a large guest house with four rooms, as well as three boutique bungalows, each with their own hot tub. It’s also home to the Rosell Boher sparkling wine brand, which produces only traditional method sparkling wines from Chardonnay, Pinot and Meunier.
Wine Resort Vinas de Cafayate – Salta, Cafayate
Looking north, this hotel is based in Argentina’s Salta Province, in the Calchaquí Valley in Cafayate. Well off the beaten track and surround by vineyards, it is set around a traditional court yard, while an on-site restaurant offers traditional cuisine. Nearby vineyards include El Esteco, Amalya and El Porvenir, making it a great base for exploring Argentina’s northern wine reaches, famed for its Torrontes, Bonarda and Tannat.
Grace Cafayate – Salta, Cafayate
Also in Cafayate, Grace is a luxury hotel, spa and residential villas development in Calchaquí Valley in the northwest of Argentina, just south of Salta. Grace Cafayate comprises a main hotel building and a further 20 Grace branded residential villas for sale. The hotel forms part of ‘La Estancia de Cafayate’, a 1,360 acre residential and sporting estate, which includes a clubhouse, polo fields and access to the estate’s vineyards. There’s also a wine and cigar bar to plunder.
Casa de Uco Vineyards and Wine Resort – Mendoza, Uco Valley
Set within a 320-hectare estate, Casa de Uco Vineyards & Wine Resort, is a development of private vineyards and winery, built alongside a hotel with 7 rooms and 9 suites, and a number of vineyard villas, all of which back onto the Andes Mountains. The winery produces its own wines under the El Salvaje label, which includes a white blend and organic Malbec and Pinot Noir, as well as its Vineyard Selection and Winemakers Special Edition blend. Guests are welcome to follow the winemaking process from the vineyard to barrel, guided by its winemakers.
The Vines Resort and Spa – Mendoza, Uco Valley
Finally, the Vines Resort and Spa, is a luxury resort set within 1,500 acres of vineyards, 1 and a half hours drive from Mendoza. Complete with all the usual trappings of a luxury resort, including a spa and swimming pool, this hotel also offers hands on experience in the vineyard, offering guests the chance to purchase a plot of land whose cultivation is overseen by its agronomist, who will assist you in making your own small batch wine. There’s also a restaurant on-site overseen by famed chef, Francis Mallmann, Siete Fuegos, which features his signature open-flame style of cooking.
