London to get erotic Dionysus-inspired supper club

First we had a naked restaurant pop-up in London and now the capital is set to get its own erotic, Dionysus-inspired Bacchanalian feast in Waterloo.

Get ready to release your inner wine god

Called Divine Proportions, the supper club is described as, “a provocative, gender-bending theatrical dinner cabaret based on the story of the god of wine”.

The brainchild of immersive party producers Shotgun Carousel, Divine Proportions promises to “blur the line between feast and fantasy” via “an indulgent night of eating, drinking and wild dancing”.

The feasts will take place at The Vaults in Waterloo next month and will explore the themes of pleasure, beauty, sensuality, freedom, gender fluidity and sexual desire.

During the event guests will be led through secret tunnels, hidden doors and floral corridors by Dionysus into “a paradise of indulgence and entertainment”.

The menu takes inspiration from Greek mythology, with each course reflecting a key figure from the myths of ancient Greece.

Expect the likes of Zeus-inspired juniper and beetroot cured salmon; Dionysus-themed roast guinea fowl; and lemon thyme jelly in a hat tip to Hermes.

While guests dine they will be privy to a “raunchy” cabaret show featuring cameos from Persephone, Aphrodite and Eros – naturally.

After dinner guests will move to the underworld where they will be encouraged to indulge in copious cocktails and wine-laced punch while dancing their sins away.

“While the world of Divine Proportions remains mythological, we’ll work our butts off to bring our dreamworld to life.

“It’s raunchy, sexy, unapologetically loud and if our audiences have as much fun experiencing this show as we’ve had creating it, we’ll have done Dionysus proud,” said Laura Drake Chambers, founder of Shotgun Carousel.

The supper clubs run from 14 September to 12 January at immersive entertainment space The Vaults, housed beneath the arches at Waterloo station. Tickets start at £35 and include a five-course banquet.
