LG launches voice-activated wine cellar

Better known for its mobile phones, South Korean electronics giant LG has branched out into wine with a state of the art voice-activated wine cellar.

LG’s new voice-activated wine cellar

Called the LG Signature Wine Cellar, the latest invention from the LG stable will be on display at the IFA tech conference in Berlin this week.

Part of its home appliances ‘Signature’ series, which includes fridges, ovens, washing machines and a air purifier, the cellar has space for 65 bottles of wine.

Boasting voice recognition technology, users are able to issue voice commands to turn on the cellar light and browse their collections without opening the door.

The cellar also offers users the chance to store the wines within it at different temperatures, meaning reds, whites and sparklers can all share the same cellar.

Each level of the cellar, which is protected by darkened glass, can be set to a different temperature through ‘multi temperature control’.

Like its mobile phones, LG has gone for a minimalist design for the cellar, which boasts a textured steel finish and a scratch-resistant exterior to keep it looking newer for longer.

The cellar also features a smart sensor on the bottom of the appliance that can sense movement, meaning the door will automatically open for you when you stand close to it, making it the perfect gadget for lazy wine collectors.

The price of the LG Signature Wine Cellar has yet to be released.
