Gérard Bertrand unveils $100k centenary wine collection

Dubai-based fine wine and luxury spirits retailer Le Clos has partnered with Languedoc winemaker Gérard Bertrand on a centenary collection of 18 fortified wines dating back to 1875 at an RRP of US$100,000.

Available exclusively at the retailer’s outlet in Dubai International Airport, The Legend Vintage Centenary Collection comprises 18 rare fortified wines from the South of France, dating from 1875 to 1977, and is the culmination of a decades-long search by Bertrand’s team.

The unique collection was compiled from wines discovered in the cellars of the producer’s own wineries throughout Roussillon, with its release timed to coincide with Bastille Day and, fortuitously, the French football team’s victory in this year’s World Cup.

The wines come in a handcrafted oak box with 18 concealed drawers, styled in the French royal furniture tradition. Each box contains laser engraved individual cases for each vintage, which include wines from 1875, 1900, 1945, 1969, and the Rivesaltes 1977, 1974 and 1955, along with two specially crafted Riedel glasses in the lower case of the set.

Ben Odgers, general manager of Le Clos said: “Le Clos is proud of its long-standing partnership with Dubai Airports and we are committed to honour this by constantly striving to source the rarest and most prestigious wines and spirits from around the world.

“In recent months, we have witnessed increasing interest and attention in the prestige sector, which is why we are delighted to partner with Gérard Bertrand Centenary Box. It’s a truly unique collection that we know our customers will appreciate.”

The Centenary Collection is available exclusively at Le Clos’ First-Class Lounge store located in Concourse A Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport at the price of US$100,000.
