You can now travel on the Napa Valley beer train for $75

Having branched into Tequila in April, the Napa Valley Wine Train is once again moving in a new direction with the launch of the Hop Train – a two-hour craft beer-fuelled train ride.

The train is being taken over by local brewery Napa Palisades Beer Company which will showcase three of its flagship brews.

The two-hour long journey departs at 5:30pm on Mondays, with the first jaunt set to take place on 18 June.

Guests can sample the 5.7% 1849 Gold Rush Red with notes of “caramel, smokey and honey”, the 7.5% Loco IPA described as a “citrus-filled tropical IPA”, and the Little Loco Session, a 5% IPA with citrus notes and “a hint of pine on the finish”.

Included in the US$75 price ($50 for locals) are samples of the beers as well as bar snacks. Bookings can be made online via the Napa Valley Wine Train website.

Last month, in an effort to boost tourism to the area following the wildfires, the wine train hosted a Tequila takeover which saw the spirit paired with a four-course meal during a three-hour train ride to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
