Champagne house Lanson celebrates partnership with O2 arena

Katy Perry asked fans to “go on the lash” with her at the London leg of her Witness tour as Lanson celebrated its five-year partnership with the O2 arena, making it the only Champagne label available at the venue’s public bars.

The Swish Swish singer also “popped a vintage” by taking fans through a tour of her back catalogue of hits including Hot N Cold and her debut single I Kissed a Girl, as members of the media joined the Champagne house to celebrate its lucrative deal with the O2 arena.

The Champagne house has been in partnership with the stadium since 2008. Negotiated by AEG Global Partnerships, the deal sees it gain pouring rights at all public bars within the Greenwich venue, which attracts over nine million visitors each year.

The partnership also allowed for the launch of Up at the O2, where visitors can pay a premium to scale the 52-metre high structure and enjoy a glass of Champagne on reaching the summit.

Over 1000 glasses of Champagne Lanson have been drunk at the summit since January 2018.

The brand celebrated the renewal of its deal by inviting members of the press for a tasting of three of its Champagne labels at the O2’s Amex Lounge, followed by an evening of Katy Perry laden with drinks puns.

Witness: The Tour is Perry’s fourth concert tour marking the launch of her 2017 album Witness. She is next due to perform at Sheffield Arena on Tuesday 19 June, and will stay in the UK until the 28th, when she will travel to Barcelona to continue the European portion of the trip.

Guests were invited to try Lanson’s rosé, white and black label expressions.

At the launch of the partnership, Nathan Kosky, vice president of AEG Global Partnerships, said: “Lanson has been a partner of our venue since 2008, delighting fans with their range of premium Champagnes”.

“As the world’s leading venue, the O2 will continue to give Lanson access to millions of fans each year at a range of events including music, sport and comedy. We are thrilled to have them on board for a further five years”.

Paul Beavis, managing director of Champagne Lanson UK and International, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to extend our partnership with the O2. We known that once visitors try our style of Champagne that they become advocates.”

“The O2, with over 9 million visitors annually, offers us a unique opportunity to showcase our vast range of Champagnes, which helps to reinforce Lanson’s position as the perfect aperitif Champagne for those special moments for visitors to the O2 whatever the occasion might be, as well as the perfect start to celebrate 2018 and beyond”.
