HDH ‘Celebration of Burgundy’ sale to be biggest yet

The seventh edition of US auctioneer Hart Davis Hart’s ‘Celebration of Burgundy’ sale will be the largest yet, featuring over 2,000 lots and with a pre-sale high estimate of US$6.5 million.

Taking place in Chicago from 13-14 April, the sale will feature 2,602 lots, from 178 domaines and vintages spanning 1952-2016; including some “crown jewels” from the likes of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Henri Jayer, Georges Roumier, Armand Rousseau, Domaine Dujac and Domaine Leroy.

The sale includes 1,200 lots more than last year’s sale which realised US$5.6m in total.

Notable highlights in the sale include: a bottle of 1966 Romanée-Conti from DRC, 12 bottles of 1999 Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St-Jacques Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Fourrier, a magnum of Henri Jayer’s 1988 Echézeaux and another of his 1990 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux, a bottle of Jayer’s 1978 Cros Parantoux and a bottle of 1982 Meursault, Les Charmes from Coche-Dury.

There are also magnums of 2015 Musigny Vieilles Vignes from Comte Georges de Vogüé; 2005 Romanée-St-Vivant from Dujac Files et Père and 2010 Chambolle-Musigny, Les Amoureuses from Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier.

In total, there are 299 lots of DRC spanning the vintages 1966-2014; 125 lots of Armand Rousseau; 81 lots of Domaine Leroy and 129 of Domaine Dujac.
