East London brewery Five Points has launched its own crowdfunding campaign

London brewery Five Points is the latest craft beer producer to open its own crowdfunding campaign, aiming to raise £750,000 which could treble production and pave the way for a taproom of its own.

The hackney-based brewer said it needs to raise investment for “state-of-the-art new brewhouse equipment and fermentation tanks which will triple production capacity volume,” it said in an emailed statement.

Five Points said the investment, which is being raised through CrowdCube, could drive sales up from two million to six million pints per year.

Meanwhile, the brewer also has plans to open its own venue, the Five Points Taproom, at local boozer The Pembury Tavern, which has been owned and operated by Individual Pubs group since 2006.

A new research and development brew-kit at The Pembury Tavern will be used to develop new recipes and research innovative brewing processes.

The campaign will run for 30 days from Friday 9th March, with a minimum investment of £10.

Co-dounder and MD Ed Mason said that Five Points’ ethos centres around “a commitment to the community, and the prospect of inviting the community to join us on our journey is really exciting.

“What we love about crowdfunding is the ability to welcome on board 100s, maybe 1,000s of passionate beer lovers who will be literally invested in the success of our company”.
