ProWein to shine a light on craft beer and cider

Craft beer and cider will be given the limelight at ProWein in March, with over 70 beer and cider producers signed up to exhibit their wares at the trade show in Dusseldorf.

Part of ProWein’s “same but different” initiative, craft beer and cider producers from Belgium, Germany, France, Italy Chile, Peru, South Africa and beyond will be pouring their small batch creations in Hall 7.0.

Mixologist Arnd Henning Heißen will be serving ‘hygge’-inspired cocktails at the show

“These creative drinks are playing an ever greater role on the urban bar scene, at trendy eateries and at wine merchants, and they are opening up ever new customer bases – not just in Germany but also internationally,” said Marius Berlemann, global head of wine & spirits and director at ProWein.

“It was an obvious move to pick up on this topic at ProWein and give it a large stage. But we had not anticipated such a good response,” he added.

In addition to craft beer and cider, there will be 40 craft spirits producers at the show, including Peruvian Pisco and Swedish whisky.

At the Fizzz Lounge meanwhile, the focus will be on the Danish concept of ‘hygge’ – the contentment that comes from cosniess.

Four renowned bartenders will be presenting their hygge-inspired cocktails in the lounge, including Arnd Henning Heißen of Fragrances bar at The Ritz-Carlton in Berlin and self-appointed ‘drinks chef’ Marie Rausch of Rotkehlchen in Münster.

Beer sommeliers Dirk Omlor and Benjamin Brouër will also be offering tutored beer tastings at the Fizzz Lounge guiding attendees through the taste spectrum from apéritif beers and draught beers through to port, stout and ale. ProWein takes place from 18-20 March in Dusseldorf.
