TFWA Digital Village will return to Cannes in 2018

The Tax Free World Association (TFWA) has confirmed its Digital Village will return to the French Riviera’s World Exhibition & Conference fair next October following a successful launch earlier this year.

TWFA’s Erik Juul-Mortensen speaking in Cannes at the World Exhibition this year.

The Village will open slightly earlier next year on Tuesday 2 October, allowing more operators, landlords and exhibitors more time to visit the space until the show’s close on 5 October.

Located within Cannes’ Gare Maritime, the 840sqm space was launched to cater to service providers of loyalty, CRM, software and hardware functions for airports, retailers, brands and other stakeholders.

It is hoped the Digital Village will attract new types of delegates including IT, marketing, digital and operations managers in the years to come.

“I have long believed that our industry needs to embrace digital technology if we are to remain competitive, and the support we received for the first TFWA Digital Village proves that the time was right to launch such a forum”, said TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen.

Erin Lillis, travel retail director at Lacoste, said the digital-first area is “a great addition to the TFWA showcase.”

Candice Medina Tantoco, marketing manager at International Duty Free Shops Morocco, added: “We’re in a market that is a bit behind in digital technology so this is a one stop shop and makes it easier for retailers.”

More information about the upcoming even, programme and exhibitors will be available on the TFWA website in the new year.
