Viticulture and oenology specialist Plumpton College in East Sussex has appointed Rachel Davey to manage the PR for Plumpton’s wine division.

As part of her role, Davey will provide consumer and trade PR support while raising awareness of Plumpton, which offers the only English-language degrees in wine business and viticulture & oenology in Europe.

Having launched its first wine course in 1996, Plumpton now boasts a 10-hectare vineyard and a dedicated wine centre with a commercial winery and research centre.

The college will step up its investment in promotional activity for Plumpton’s wine division next year, which Davey will play a big part in.

One of Davey’s key roles will be to develop and build Plumpton’s reputation and promote the courses on offer within both the UK and international market.

“We have some exciting plans to announce next year and we are looking forward to working with Rachel to maximise the impact of these activities as well as continuing to build on our reputation as a centre of excellence for wine studies,” said Chris Foss, head of Plumpton wine division.

Davey has 11 years in PR consultancy under her belt, including a stint as a freelance and a spell working at Proven Comminucation in Bristol.
