Guinness Ghana gives out gold bars to promote Star Beer

Guinness Ghana-owned Star Beer is to hand out 2.5g gold bars to 200 lucky drinkers as part of a national promotional campaign.

In a play on Ghana’s rich gold-mining heritage, Star Beer has launched a national consumer campaign, labelled ‘Star Win Gold Promotion,’ during which 200 bars of real gold will be given to its loyal drinkers.

The promotion, which will run from now until February 2018, is giving consumers the chance to win over GHc3 million (£166,000) of prizes including the gold bars and “thousands of bottles of Star Beer”.

The campaign covers both the 330ml and 625ml bottles of the beer. If a bottle has ‘GOLD’ inscribed under the crown cap, the owner is entitled to one of the 200 gold bars. A phone number is provided on the neck label of the bottle for the lucky customer to call to claim their prize. The bar will be delivered by the brewery’s gold partner, PMMC Jewelry.

Marketing manager for lagers at Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL), Carsten Schemmer, commented: “This [promotion] is to first of all reward our loyal Star Beer consumers and how best to do so but with real Gold which has an emotional connection to Ghana. I am particularly delighted about this promotion as we give back to our consumers. This is an exciting time for our brand and I urge all quality beer lovers to get on board, enjoy a Star Beer and win gold as well as other amazing prizes”.
