Gnarly Vines wine shop opens in Leyton

Following in the footsteps of the popular P. Franco in Clapton and Yield in Newington Green, a new-wave wine shop called Gnarly Vines has opened in the east London borough of Leyton.

As reported by Eater London, the wine shop and bar founded by William Jack and Tom McKim, the duo behind Clapton Craft, opened yesterday on Hoe Street in E17.

The boys have already proved their mettle with five successful beer shops, and are now switching from grain to grape with Gnarly Vines, which shines a light on low intervention and ‘natural’ wines at the “gnarly” end of the spectrum.

Eater reports that in addition to wine, the hybrid venue will sell a selection of craft beers and spirits, artisan cheeses, ceramics, chopping boards and knives.

The first Clapton Craft opened in 2013 on Lower Clapton Road and has since been joined by the likes of wine bar and bottle shop P. Franco.

Jack and McKim hope to grow Gnarly Vines into a one-stop shop for both locals and those willing to make the pilgrimage to E17 for a taste of gnarly goodness. The site boasts a “gnarly” garden, which will open to punters next summer.
