Pernod Ricard hit by cyber attack

French drinks company Pernod Ricard has confirmed that its London office was hit by a cyber attack this week, but a spokeswoman said that the event had “no impact on business operations”.

Pernod Ricard revealed that its London office was targeted on Tuesday (08/07/17) at midday, with the IT team noticing “unusual activity”.

Following news of the breach, the company’s shares fell by 2.1% to an intraday low of €116.9 in Paris. However, a spokeswoman for Pernod Ricard insisted that the attack had not affected business operations.

“At midday on Tuesday, we discovered unusual activity and evidence of a cyber attack at Pernod Ricard London”.

“This has been fully contained with no impact on business operations,” she said.

The company is due to release its annual report at the end of this month.

In a survey of more than 1,200 businesses across the UK, The British Chambers of Commerce found that 20% had been hit by a cyber-attack in the last 12 months. Of the businesses questioned, only 24% had cyber security accreditations in place.
