Majestic boss tops list of highest paid retail execs

The only other purely booze related retailers on the list included Diana Hunter of Conviviality, in at 34th place after benefits of £516k boosted the total package to £966k.

Hunter has steered the company as it transformed from an alcohol, impulse and tobacco wholesaler serving franchised off-licence business Bargain Booze into the UK’s largest drinks wholesaler and distributor, following a string of acquisitions, notably Matthew Clark in October 2015, events agency Peppermint and Bibendum PLB in May 2016. The business supplies the multiple grocers, independent off-trade and its own franchised businesses, as well as the on-trade and events and this year saw its profits before tax soar by more than 147% on the same period last year, to around £22.5 million.

Dear John, It might just be a five o clock shadow !
Can’t comment on vulgarity of salary, as I am rather envious. Still trying to calculate how many bottles of wine one has to sell to reach that point. Can anyone help ?

I Have worked for Majestic in store and its a joke that this an earns this salary whilst minimum wage is paid to junior staff who actually do all the work Merchandising thats unloading upto 5 pallets of wines in a morning (on your own) Back Breaking, then if your very lucky 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break! (maybe 3/4 times a week less than 1/2 hour! Then your expected to deliver in van with absolutely no care for your Health and Safety( delivering to pub and restaurant cellars with dangerous stairs) attitude from store partners/Managers is take it to where ever they want it! No care for staff safety in store either with fire exits blocked by pallets of wine. So perhaps Mr Gormley should start at the bottom and sort some of these problems out! but ey why would he..working for Majestic in store is akin to Slave Labour… Oh and lets not forget they want you to arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before you start time and stay for up to 15 minutes after your end time LL UNPAID…….

If it weren’t for this guy you would be out of a job. Naked Wines saved you. Go and work for M restaurant it you want to complain (£10 an hour). Maybe you shouldn’t complain about these things when you’re getting paid for it. Not only that but if you work in the store then it’s your problem that fire exits are blocked off. If working there is slave labour, why don’t you leave?
