Santa Rita refreshes ‘120’ brand

Chilean winery Santa Rita is to launch a refreshed version of its ‘120’ brand as well as two new wines for the range at the London Wine Fair.

Among a number of “tweaks” made to the packaging of the wine is the addition of an embossed soldier on a horse representing the 120 Chilean patriots after whom the brand is named.

The figure of the soldier is modelled on a depiction of Chilean independence fighter Bernardo O’Higgins in a painting of the Battle of Rancagua in 1814, a notable defeat of the Chilean rebels during their war against Spain that led a band of survivors hiding in the cellars of Santa Rita’s hacienda.

Furthermore, the London Wine Fair will see the unveiling of two new wines for the 120 range; a Malbec from Colchagua and a Pinot Grigio sourced from fruit grown in the winery’s vineyards in Curico.

The fair will also mark Oscar Salas’ first visit to the UK in his new role as the brand’s winemaker.

After their unveiling at the LWF, the bottles and new wines will be officially launched in Ireland at events in Belfast and Dublin.

Commenting on the brand and refreshed new labels and bottles, Salas said: “Santa Rita has the enviable reputation of being one of the most admired Chilean wine brands in the world and the 120 brand is one of Chile’s most successful global wine exports.

“The quality of the wine in the bottle has always been a top priority for the brand, however these new bottles with their sophisticated and sleek appearance along with their strong and unique imagery really contribute to the premium image of the wine brand. It is an honour and a privilege to be working for this dynamic wine brand and I am very much looking forward to ‘Living la Vida 120’ in the UK and Ireland in May.”
