Passione Vino and Angela Hartnett launch Italian supper club

Passione Vino co-founder Luca Dusi has teamed up with chef Angela Hartnett to launch a series of Regional Italian Supper Clubs at Hartnett’s Cafe Murano restaurant in Covent Garden.

The first Regional Italian Supper Club will be held at Cafe Murano in Covent Garden on 6 February

Dusi, who has been importing some of the best artisanal Italian wines into the UK through Passione Vino for more than a decade, will provide the wine pairings for Hartnett’s regional Italian dishes at four different supper events between February and June 2017.

Held in Cafe Murano Convent Garden’s first-floor private dining room, each supper club will focus on the unique cuisine of some of Hartnett’s favourite Italian regions.

Passione Vino now supplies all the wines at Hartnett’s Pastificio – the deli, wine shop and pasta factory next door to the restaurant.

The star chef has created menus of the dishes that most inspire her from Abruzzo, La Marche, Veneto and Sicily. Each course will then be paired with rare and traditional regional wines chosen by Dusi.

Tickets for each event are priced at £90, which includes both food and wine pairings. Both Hartnett and Dusi will be on hand to talk through the menu and wines throughout the evening

The series will begin on Monday 6 February and will explore the central Italian region of Abruzzo, a region known for its diverse landscape and rustic cuisine.

Angela Hartnett will be on hand to discuss the food and the Italian regions which inspired it at the supper club

The menu for the evening will include cichetti paired with Cerasuolo D’Abruzzo, Valle Reale 2015; maccheroni alla chitarra agnello ragu (maccheroni alla chitarra with lamb ragu) paired with Montepulciano D’Abruzzo Valle Reale 2015; and Cassata di Sulmona (chocolate cake with praline).

Subsequent supper clubs will cover the following regions: La Marche (Wednesday 1 March), Veneto (Tuesday 9 May) and Sicily (Tuesday 13 June).

Luca Dusi established Passione Vino in 2003 along with business partner Federico Bruschetta. The importer has earned a strong reputation for seeking out undiscovered artisanal winemakers from all over Italy. Many of its wines are organic.

Dusi has previously worked with the Istituto Enologico Italiano, and serving as a wine buyer for restaurants all over Europe.
