Commenting on the partnership which comes into effect this month, Eric Desgouttes, Kerry Wines’ general manager for Greater China said:

“We are delighted to welcome Powell & Son led by the iconic wine personality Dave Powell. Their fierce commitment to quality shares the same philosophy as our company.”

“As passionate wine lovers who aim to make the world of fine wines accessible, and easy to understand. At the core of our business are the beliefs of provenance and a thoughtful selection of quality wine brands.”

Known for being somewhat vociferous, Dave Powell was the former winemaker and founder of Torbreck in the Barossa but was ousted in an ugly feud between him and business owner, Peter Kight after his five-year contract expired in 2013.

Powell and his son Callum who studied winemaking with Erin and Jean Louis Chave, founded Powell & Son together in 2014, focusing on single vineyard old vine Barossa Shiraz.

Kerry Wines will carry several labels from Powell & Son, including the flagship Steinhert Flazman which carries a price tag of HK$3,288, the Brennecker Grenache at HK$1,695, Barossa Valley GSM at HK$428 and Eden Valley Riesling at HK$275.

Previously, Powell & Son was distributed in Hong Kong via Links Concept.

Founded in Hong Kong in 2010, Kerry Wines has offices in Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong and is the agent for several wine brands in Hong Kong, including Lapostolle, La Rioja Alta, Champagne Jacquesson, Dönnhoff, Castell’in Villa, Elio Altare and Finca Sophenia.
