Coravin launches Model One in HK

‘Find Freedom by the Glass’ – Hong Kong’s millennial wine consumers are the focus for Coravin’s new Model One, its most ‘competitively’ priced model yet.

Following on from the release of Model Two Elite in Asia in 2016, Coravin has just unveiled its latest model, the Model One which was launched in the UK in summer last year.

It is Coravin’s most ‘competitively’ priced model yet at HK$1,800, and is designed in white and cobalt blue, in contrast to the metallic and darker colours of previous systems.

Using the same technology as the other models – driving a minuscule needle through the cork and pressuring the bottle with argon gas to preserve the wine – Model One is lighter in weight and has ‘ergonomic soft-touch’ handles, which Coravin says makes it easier to use for Hong Kong’s fledgling millennial wine consumers, the target for this particular model.

Recent research published by Wine Intelligence, The China Landscapes 2016 report, revealed that nearly half of imported wine into Asia is consumed by those under 30 years old and Coravin aims to introduce them to new ways of drinking different wines without being limited to only one bottle – ‘Find Freedom by the Glass’ is its new 2017 tagline.

“Younger wine lovers have proven to have varied tastes in wine and enjoy exploring different regions and styles; particularly in Asia – a rapidly expanding market where wine drinkers are looking for ways to try more,” said Coravin’s president and CEO Frédéric Lévy.

“Coravin gives them the freedom to drink what they want, when they want – without compromise and without waste. The Coravin Model One is the perfect system to enable this and cultivate a lifelong passion for wine.”

Model One is out now and available via Watson’s Wines and Coravin’s website.
