Exton Park flies flag for England in Hong Kong

Sparkling wine producer Exton Park was the only producer from England to be recognised at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Competition (HKIWSC).

Based in Hampshire’s South Downs, Exton Park’s Blanc de Noirs and Pinot Meunier Rose were both awarded Silver medals following an awards dinner revealing the winners this week.

Exton Park’s Blanc de Noirs NV also won a Bronze medal in the Food Pairing category, with judges deeming it a match to smoked pigeon with oolong tea leaves.

“It is a tremendous honour for us to be representing England like this,” said the vineyard’s head winemaker Corinne Seely.

“Now to have the commendation of so many key wine experts in the Far East is very important. Exton Park is a premium, niche brand – just right for the region.”

Seely created Exton’s Blanc de Noirs as an “easy-drinking, easy-celebrating sparkling wine for the English palate” and is made from 100% Pinot Noir – the majority sourced from more mature plots, all grown on this single-estate property.

It’s 100% Pinot Meunier Rosé meanwhile is the first of its kind in England and is bottled in green glass to preserve the colour and quality of the sensitive Meunier grape.
