Zachys in autumn’s first ‘white glove sale’

The New York auction house,Zachys has announced its first sale of the season was sold 100% by lot, realizing a total of HK$45.4 million (US$5.9 million).

Zachys’ latest Hong Kong auction saw aggressive bidding from clients from
Europe to North and South America as well as the Asia Pacific with very strong support from collectors in Hong Kong.

An imperial of Lafite Rothschild 1959, six magnums of Lafleur 1982 and five bottles of  Domaine de la Romanee-Conti all stormed in the lead and sold for HK$490,000 per lot and exceeding all pre-sale estimates.

Zachys’ Hong Kong recent sale, Part I of The Vault featured 151 lots of premium Bordeaux which made up almost a third of the total results as well as 550 lots of Burgundy which realised a total of HK$29,868,563 (US$3,854,008) at this and represented more than 65% of the sale.

The top selling lots were:

  • One imperial Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1959 HK$490,000 (US$63,168)
  • Six magnums Chateau Lafleur 1982 1.5L HK$490,000 (US$63,168)
  • Five bottles Romanee Conti Domaine de la Romanee-Conti 1996 HK$490,000 (US$63,168)
  • Six magnums La Tache Domaine de la Romanee Conti 1990 HK$441,000 US$56,851
  • Three double magnums Petrus 1982 HK$392,000 (US$50,500)
  • Six bottles Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux Henri Jayer 1988 HK$367,500 (US$47,376)
  • Six magnums Richebourg Meo-Camuzet 1988 HK$318,500 (US$41,059)
  • Twelve bottles Le Pin 2000 HK$294,000 (US$37,901)
  • Twelve bottle assorted case Domaine de la Romanee-Conti 1993 HK$281,750 (US$36,322)
  • Nine bottles La Romanee Liger-Belair 2005 HK$269,500 (US$34,742)

The next Zachys auction will be the Vault Part II  which will be held at Le Bernardin Privé in New York City on 15 October.
