Rare Lafite in spotlight at Acker HK sale

Top rare Bordeaux verticals will be on offer at Acker, Merrall and Condit’s next Hong Kong auction, happening on Saturday, 24 September.

51 bottles Chateau Lafite Rothschild from 1955-2005 will go under the hammer, and are estimated to fetch between HK$280,000 – HK$400,000

Featuring numerous back vintages, including 1959 Haut Brion, 1961 La Mission magnum, 1953 Palmer magnum, 1955 Haut Brion Blanc, 1978 Rousseau Chambertin, 1983 Ramonet Montrachet and 1976 La Mouline, Acker’s upcoming Hong Kong sale direct from a French wine collector’s cellars.

Acker’s CEO John Kapon also enthused about the “Picassos” of the auction such as 50 bottles of Chateau Lafite spanning 1955-2005, 85 bottles of Chateau Latour from 1907-2005 and 59 bottles of La Mission from 1945-2005.

“We are proud to present one of the greatest vertical selections ever offered at auction, thanks to this French gentleman and his precise cellar. Wine has been a lifelong passion for this collector, and he has painstakingly and carefully acquired these immediately gratifying collections of some of Bordeaux’s top names,” he said.

Highlights of the auction are below: Lot 526 is from a Hong Kong-based private collector.

  • Lot 497: Three bottles Chateau Haut Brion Blanc 1955, estimated between HK$40,000 – HK$56,000
  • Lots 486-487: Magnums Château La Mission Haut Brion 1961, estimated between HKD $48,000 -HK$72,000
  • Lot 527: 51 bottles Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1955-2005, estimated between HK$280,000 – HK$400,000
  • Lot 528: 24 bottles Chateau Latour 1907-1944, estimated between HK$320,000 – HK$480,000
  • Lot 528a: 61 bottles Chateau Latour 1945-2005, estimated between HK$360,000 – HK$480,000
  • Lot 526: 61 bottles of Chateau Mouton Rothschild vertical 1943-2005, estimated between HK$480,000 – HK$ 680,000

Acker’s auction on Saturday, 24 September in Grissini, Grand Hyatt will start at 9am HKT.
