Wine Show’s Joe Fattorini to run Médoc Marathon

Joe Fattorini, presenter of ITV’s The Wine Show, has taken on the challenge of running the Médoc Marathon in aid of the drinks trade charity The Benevolent.

One of the world’s most iconic races, the Médoc Marathon follows a unique route through the vineyards of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, with participants known for running in flamboyant fancy dress and sampling sips of the world’s best wine along the way.

Founded in 1984, the 26.2-mile race will take place on 10 September, with presenter and Conviviality PLC’s internal communications manager Joe Fattorini due to take his place at the starting line in support of The Benevolent.

Joe hopes to raise £5,000 for the charity, which supports members of the drinks trade in need of emotional or financial support.

On his decision to take up the challenge Joe said: “It’s possible you know someone who’s been helped by The Benevolent, even if you aren’t aware of it. A lot of the work they do is quiet, sometimes quite modest, but with a huge impact. But many people in our industry don’t know that help is there, and how much it could help them. Even change their lives.

“We couldn’t miss this opportunity to raise money – and awareness – of the remarkable work of The Benevolent. All the while wearing silly clothes and running round the Medoc in the sun.”

The event will become the backdrop of an upcoming episode of The Wine Show’s new series, which airs on ITV.

“We are extremely grateful to Joe for deciding to support us in this way”, added David Cox, CEO of The Benevolent. “He is one of the trade’s true characters and I am looking forward to seeing what fancy dress outfit the producers of ‘The Wine Show’ will suggest for him to wear!”
