Rosé wine chocolate bar goes on sale

Just weeks after US confectioner Sugarfina almost caused the internet to break with the launch of its rosé gummy bear creations, another company is seeking to exploit the popularity of pink wine with the launch of rosé chocolate.

Los Angeles-based luxury chocolatier Compartés’s ‘Roses & Rosé’ chocolate bar is a white chocolate bar infused with “French rosé wine” and crystallised rose petals.

The Compartés website invites chocolate and wine lovers to “sit back and pour a glass and take a bite of the hottest new sweet sensation of the year”.

One bar of Roses & Rosé costs $9.95 (£7.52) and Compartés ships worldwide.

Compartés chocolatier Jonathan Grahm created the rosé chocolate bar, for which he focused on capturing a sense of Old Hollywood glamour, according to food and drink website Delish.

Other eccentric flavours favoured by Grahm include matcha green tea and quinoa, and ‘Vegan Zen’ kale and dark chocolate.

The company is hoping to cash in on the same demand which saw fellow US confectioner sell out of its entire inventory of rosé wine gummy bears in just two hours and generate a 1,000-person online waiting list overnight.
