Chandon makes festival debut at Number 6

Chandon is partnering with Festival No 6, the boutique music and arts festival in North Wales, in the first activation of its kind for the Argentine sparkling wine brand.

For its activation the festival held in the picturesque village of Portmeirion in North Wales, Chandon will create a roaming ‘Chandon Mirage Bar’, which will appear at four different ‘surprise’ locations throughout the weekend of festivities.

Chandon has commissioned an Argentine-inspired design for the pop-up bar, much of which will be mirrored, creating an inviting exotic ‘mirage’ within the picturesque landscape.

The location of the Chandon Mirage Bar will be revealed daily via the sparkling wine brand’s social media channels @ChandonUK and the festival’s own channels, to encourage moments of surprise and spontaneity amongst festival-goers.

Chandon will also challenge guests to be the first to discover the bar and share its new locations using the hashtag #enjoythespark for the chance to win complimentary drinks and exclusive offers.

The Chandon Mirage Bar will be serving Chandon Brut and Chandon Rosé by the bottle and glass, alongside two “quintessentially British” Chandon summer spritzers: Evita Spritz and Rhubarb Royale.

As part of the partnership with Festival No 6, which takes place from 1-4 September, Chandon will also be available at a selection of bars across the festival: Castle Garden Bar, Portmeirion Piazza Bar, Swimming Pool Bar and Boutique Campaign, all of which will be located at striking viewpoints across the Portmeirion site. Bottles of Chandon will also be on hand for VIPs backstage.

“It’s a very exciting year for us, with our McLaren Honda Formula 1 partnership under way and now our first ever activation on the festival scene,” Maria Ines Pina, senior brand manager for Chandon, said.

“We handpicked Festival No 6 as the whole event oozes sophistication, fusing rural beauty with unique experiences for the ultimate good time – all qualities which resonate with Chandon’s desire to inspire moments of connection and spontaneity.

Ines Pina said that the recent rise in consumption of sparkling wines in the UK was a positive sign on which Chandon hoped to capitalise through its festival partnership.

As reported in db this month, sparkling wine sales have shot up by as much as 80% in the past five years in the UK, according to the HMRC.

“This summer has seen consumption of sparkling wines climb with a volume increase of +10%,” she said.

“It’s no surprise given the significant changes and uncertainty 2016 has brought us so far. Consumers are wishing to elevate their everyday moments, simply thinking ‘Why not?’ and with Chandon you can easily afford that extra bit of luxe.

“Chandon is still relatively new to the UK market and we hope that Festival No 6 will provide a special showcase on what a great sparkling wine can add in terms of bringing friends together and making those special moments memorable.”
