The auction picks up from last year’s inaugural sale which raised US$630,000 in total for the Willamette Valley Wineries Association (WVWA) and will feature Pinots in barrel from the highly acclaimed 2015 vintage.

Over 60 wineries will be consigning wines to the sale which is only open to trade bidders who will be allowed to buy in five, 10 or 20 cases at a time.

Wineries participating in the sale include Sokol Blosser, Erath, Elton Winery and Nicolas-Jay as well as the very first vintages from new estates Iron Filbert Vineyard and Eola-Amity Hills.

The auction itself will take place on 1 April 2017 but the day before will see wine and food tastings held by the Willamette Valley’s various sub American Viticultural Areas and the wineries themselves holding private tastings and dinners.

David Adelsheim, co-chair of the auction steering committee, said: “We knew it was time for the Willamette Valley to have an event of this calibre and the wine world agreed.

“Now we look forward to building on the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural auction and continuing to tell the story of world-class Willamette Valley Pinot.”

Proceeds from the sale will go towards supporting the WVWA’s marketing and branding campaigns.
