Jebsen offers ‘iconic’ Ygay Blanco 1986 vintage

Jebsen Fine Wines in Hong Kong has announced it has acquired a parcel of the historical Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Blanco 1986, available now to pre-order.

Since its first vintage in 1919, only 11 vintages have been selected for the Gran Reserva Blanco, which has had extended ageing in large American oak barriques – for the 1986 vintage, it was bottled in January 2014 after 21 years in 40 year old American oak and five and a half years in a concrete tank.

Produced by the venerable Marqués de Murrieta estate, the Blanco is made of 97% Viura and 3% Malvasia with only 8,125 bottles on release.

The grapes hail from La Plana vineyard of the Ygay Estate in the sub-region of La Rioja Alta which is the biggest contiguous single estate in Rioja with 300 hectares (740 acres) of vineyards surrounding the winery. The vineyards vary from 1,050 to 1591 feet.

Available in three-bottle cases, the wines are expected in Hong Kong in September with a pre-order price of HK$11,040 per case

if ordered before 26 August via Jebsen Fine Wines.
