Save the date! dbHK’s HITT is back

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, our Hong Kong International Top Tasters blind tasting competition will return on 22 October 2016.

This year, dbHK’s HITT event will be in aid of Po Leung Kuk, Hong Kong’s leading social service organization and fundraiser, with a range of services covering different areas of the community, including children and orphans, the elderly and disadvantaged youths.

So, how good a taster do you think you are? Can you tell the difference between between New World and Old World without seeing the bottle? How about regions and varieties?

Come and join the drinks business HK and its co-host Acker Merrall & Condit (Asia) for a night of blind tasting, fine wines, dinner and a fantastic charity auction on 22 October 2016 at the Grand Hyatt.

Last year’s inaugural HITT event was an outstanding success with HK$155,000 raised for the Autism Partnership Foundation and exciting auction prizes up for grabs including dinner for four at 1er Grand Cru Classé estate, Château Coutet; dinner with the Ponts des Arts founders, a jeroboam of Graham’s 30-years old Tawny and a back vintage 12-bottle case of Maison Roche de Bellene.

This year will see the same blind tasting format with 12 wines and 15 teams of four people. Each team will have one hour to complete the challenge of identifying geographical origin, dominant varieties, retail price, maturity and aromas/flavours with the answer sheets will be marked by our panel of expert judges. The blind tasted wines will be available for our dinner guests to try during dinner at the HITT tasting corner.

The winning team in 2015 consisted of members of the Hong Kong Wine Society and the lucky teams walked away with one Sensis wine fridge per person and a 3-day visit to Holdvölgy in Tokaj!

Read more about last year’s event here and see which wines featured in the blindtasting (and some of the teams’ guesses) in our picture round-up.
