Charles Curtis joins Zachys

Charles Curtis MW has joined US auction house Zachys as its new Burgundy consultant.

Curtis will be responsible for providing Zachys’ clients with the latest news and developments on the region’s leading domaines and vintages as well as “entertainment and business-getting for auctions”.

Previously head of department and vice-president of Christie’s Wine Department in New York and Hong Kong, he established his own company, WineAlpha, in 2012.

He will continue to run that company in addition to his new duties at Zachys.

His book, ‘The Original Grand Crus of Burgundy‘ was published in 2014 and he is currently working on another title.

Jeff Zacharia, president of Zachys, commented: “Anyone involved in fine wine from New York to Hong Kong knows Charles Curtis MW. As Burgundy Consultant, Charles will provide our clients with in depth information on Burgundy, producers, vintages new and old, and act as an auction consultant, something he’s been doing effectively for half a decade.

“Zachys long ago cemented its role as the place to shop for fine Burgundy, whether via our retail arm, our auctions, or our annual partnership with La Paulée de New York.

“The addition of Charles Curtis will further grow our position and expertise in the Burgundy market, be it in the Americas, Europe, or Asia. On behalf of the entire international team, we welcome Charles to Zachys.”
