Tofterup joined the Valdivieso team last monthis following time with Hammeken Cellars in Spain.

He will be responsible for growing the Valdivieso portfolio, with a particular focus on the Caballo Loco range, through presence and brand activation in both the UK and the European markets.

Tofterup is an MW student, an MSc graduate in Viticulture and Enology, and speaks English and Spanish along with his native Danish.

The Valdivieso wines are made by New Zealand-born winemaker Brett Jackson.

Valdivieso was the first South American producer to make commercial sparkling wine and created one of Chile’s first ultra-premium wines, the non-vintage solera style Caballo Loco.

More recently, the Caballo Loco Grand Cru series has been launched which includes wines from the premium sites of Limarí, Sagrada Familia, Maipo and Apalta.

Marianne Fillion of UK distributor Bibendum PLB said: “It’s great having Jonas on board. We are very supportive and proactive in the promotion of premium Chile and we feel that Jonas, with his depth of knowledge and experience, will help us hand sell the Caballo Loco range to sommeliers and premium retailers.”
