Record-breaking ProWein China praised

Organisers have hailed ProWein China 2015 a huge success after 600 wine and spirits manufacturers from 33 countries descended on Shanghai for the three-day event in November.

A record 10,300 trade visitors attended the event – an increase of 25% compared to last year.

The trade fair, which wrapped up on 13 November, presented 16 country pavilions and three regional pavilions.

The country with the highest number of exhibitors was France, followed by Italy, Spain and Argentina. Among them there were many large wine producers such as KWV, Les Grands Chais de France, Constellation Brands and LCW.

Popular wine growing nations such as Australia and Chile exhibited with an official national pavilion for the first time.

The expertise of trade visitors was also judged to be extremely high by organisers, among them high-class importers, distributors, wine and spirits merchants as well as food and beverage managers.

Michael Degen, Executive Director at Messe Düsseldorf and Director of ProWein, said he was satisfied with the results of the fair: “Last year we had discussions with our exhibitors if they want to come back or not. This year the question is not if they return but how much space is available.

“This confirms that we are on the right track with our satellite event of ProWein in China,” he said.
