HK’s Vasco hosts ‘Buon Padre’ Barolo dinner

Hong Kong’s Basque institution Vasco and Cottage Vineyards will partner up to introduce limited back vintages of Viberti Giovanni Barolo in a winemaker dinner.

Winemaker, Claudio Viberti will guide guests through back vintages of Giovanni Viberti Barolo

The estate’s third generation winemaker and owner, Claudio Viberti will lead the six-course dinner at Vasco which has been created by Vasco’s chef de cuisine, Gabriele Milani; executive chef, Paolo Casagrande of two Michelin-starred Lasarte and with Dining Room Concepts’ director of wines, Jordi Chan choosing the vintages for each course.

Held on Friday, 13 November, the evening will focus on the Piemonte wines of Viberti Giovanni and the world-renowned white truffle of Alba and includes back vintages of the ‘Buon Padre’ Barolo 1988 and 2004 and the 91-pointer, single vineyard Riserva Bricco delle Viole 2007.

Guests will also be able to buy a set of 1993-1998 library release art label verticals signed by Claudio for $HK5,880.

He commented:Our 2004 and 1988 Buon Padre Barolo wines are not available commercially for years as they have only been kept for our own family reserves.

“We are of course very saddened to part with these wines but knowing that they would be under the care of a sommelier as experienced and as passionate as Jordi Chan and the team at VASCO under chef Gabriele Milani and chef Paolo Casagrande, we are sure that our library wines will be well appreciated, generating fond memories for the food and wine connoisseurs attending the event for years to come.”

Dinner tickets are priced at HK$2,300 and can be reserved by contacting Cottage Vineyards.
