Kate Hudson takes on Campari calendar

US actress Kate Hudson has been revealed as the new face of Campari’s 2016 Calendar, fronting the Italian brand’s “bittersweet” campaign.

The actress, and daughter of Hollywood icons Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, is no stranger to the wine business. in 2011 Hudson founded Hudson Bellamy Wines with her former fiancé, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. Based in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara, California, the label produces three varietal wines; a Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and rosé Syrah.

The 2016 Campari calendar takes the theme of a presidential election presenting two opposing sides of the Italian apéritif – bitter and sweet – and encouraging people to “take a side”.

Discussing her involvement in the 2016 Campari campaign Hudson said: “I was honoured to be invited to shoot the 2016 Campari Calendar. This year’s theme plays off the upcoming election, which is the perfect metaphor for the many Campari flavour choices. I loved working with Michelangelo to create two distinctive characters embodying bitter and sweet.”

Shots for the calendar were captured by fashion photographer, Michelangelo Di Battista.

“Campari is a brand that has always had a clear sense of aesthetic and well-defined style, which is exactly what I pride myself on”, said Di Battista. “Kate’s enthusiasm and ability to switch between the two personalities allowed me to create images I hope are fresh, inspiring and imaginative.”

A full unveil of the 2016 Campari calendar will take place on 18 November. Last year Bond girl Eva Green took on the role.
